We are a boutique fund management business, owned equally by three founding partners. Our headquarters are in Singapore. We also have research offices in Bombay, Hong Kong, Seoul and the United Kingdom. We employ a total of twelve people of which eight are full time investment professionals. Our focus is on small and mid cap companies in Asia excluding Japan and Australia/New Zealand. We launched our business in 1996 and currently have 6 funds, with assets of circa USD 360 million, under management.
Our small and mid-cap focus means that we are often the largest or one of the largest minority shareholders. Many Asian companies have difficulty in making the transition from private entity to listed status. We regard corporate governance as a key threshold test in assessing "investibility" and see a clear correlation between companies which adopt equitable, transparent policies and likely share price re-rating. From a regulatory perspective there is no doubt that more could be done to protect minority interests and to apply tougher sanctions against abusive action by owner-managers.
